The Founders

Ken Mullican
Ken was reared in Oklahoma and holds a BS in Zoology and an MA in Medical Microbiology, both from the University of Oklahoma. Ken and Lenore attended Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary prior to appointment to the Baptist Hospital in the Gaza Strip, where they served five years. Ken now works full-time with HaKesher.

 

Lenore Mullican
Lenore was reared in Israel, daughter of former Jerusalem pastor, the late Dr. Robert L. and Margaret Lindsey. She holds a BS in Nursing from the University of Oklahoma, an MA in Biblical Literature and an MA in Advanced Biblical Languages, both from Oral Roberts University. She teaches Modern Hebrew at Oral Roberts University as Assistant Professor of Modern Languages.

HaKesher's Purpose

The primary purpose for HaKesher (Hebrew for “The Connection”) is to assist believers in the development of a deeper, more mature and meaningful faith through the study of Hebrew language and culture. A more accurate understanding of Jesus and his teaching is central to our endeavor. Founded by Ken and Lenore Mullican in 1986 in Tulsa, Oklahoma, HaKesher was incorporated as a nonprofit organization in 1987 and is designated as 501(c)3 by the IRS and can receive tax deductible contributions.

HaKesher’s Objectives

  • To promote an awareness of the Hebraic heritage of the Christian faith.

  • To support the research of biblical scholars whose aim is to more clearly illuminate the social, historical, religious and linguistic context of Jesus’ teaching.

  • To be a unifying, cohesive force locally, nationally, and internationally, utilizing the expertise of various individuals and organizations that are committed to the advancement of Judaic-Christian studies.

  • To promote an understanding of biblical equality in gender and ethnic interpersonal relationships.

  • To combat anti-Judaism through mutual understanding and respect.

  • To promote a balanced relationship of the church with both Arabs and Jews in the Holy Land.

  • To offer resources online and through mail order to assist in achieving the above objectives.

  • To promote reconciliation and peace between individuals and groups as a means to achieve national reconciliation and peace.  HaKesher endorses the ministry of reconciliation of many fine organizations such as Mar Elias Educational Institutions www.meei.org; Musalaha www.musalaha.org; and Shevet Achim www.shevet.org.
